Technical Visits

Four technical visits are being organised by the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. All visits are free of charge and will be held concurrently on 18 October. Participants can register for one technical visit through the delegate registration system. Please note that the spots are limited and these will be attributed on a first-come first-served basis.

Eurasia Tunnel

18 October | 9:30 – 13:30 

The first road tunnel connecting the Asian and European continents underneath the seabed. The whole route stretching between Kazlıçeşme and Göztepe, including the tunnel approach road, has a length of 14.6 km, while the double-deck tunnel itself is 5.4 km. Employing advanced technology to be built beneath the seabed, it has significantly reduced travel time between continents from over 90 minutes to just 5.

Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge & Northern Marmara Motorway

The world’s longest suspension bridge with a rail system and the widest suspension bridge, marking the 3rd connection between Asia and Europe, the 1st by railway. The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge boasts a main span of 1,408 m and a total length of 2,164 m, including side openings. Crafted as a blend of suspension and cable-stayed bridge styles, it stands out in its category for its distinctive hybrid design. Together with the Northern Marmara Motorway, they symbolise Türkiye’s engineering excellence and modernity. 

The Istanbul-Izmir Motorway

18 October | 9:30 – 13:30 

Built using the Build-Operate-Transfer financing model, the Osmangazi Bridge is a key segment of the Istanbul-Izmir Highway, stretching 426 kilometres. This route, comprising 384 kilometres of highway and 42 kilometres of connecting roads, skirts the RAMSAR Conservation Area, lessening ecological impact. Notably, the project includes measures to safeguard British biodiversity, preserving habitats and plant species.

1915 Çanakkale Bridge Malkara-Canakkale Motorway

18 October | 9:30 – 16:30 

The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge spans the Strait of the Dardanelles, a part of the 101 km-long Malkara-Çanakkale Motorway. It’s a crucial link in the Kınalı-Tekirdag-Çanakkale-Savastepe Motorway, completing the Marmara Motorway Ring. Offering uninterrupted road access, it cuts crossing time to 6 minutes, making history with the first continuous motorway connection across the strait.
